1. Empire Falls, Richard Russo; I shouldn’t have started reading this right after I read Mohawk. It was too confusing to try to keep the new characters separate.
2. I’ll be Damned if I’ll die in Oakland: A Sort of Travel Memoir, Al Martinez; Funny travel memoir about life in the Bay Area and Southern California. He hung out with some pretty cool folks in his time, was interesting to read about his adventures.
3. The Color of Magic, Terry Pratchett. I’m still in the middle of this, but I just love sci-fi/fantasy! Of course are about 30 more in this series so lots of fun in my future. I am thinking there are wayyy too many different characters in this book, it’s a bit tough to keep track of. I’m curious to see how the rest of the series goes.
4. The Golden Compass, Phillip Pullman. I wanted to read the book before I see the movie, hoping it turns out as well as I’ve heard!

Why do I keep reading these books about alcoholics and drug addicts? Oh yeah, because one person’s depravity and pain is my reading pleasure. I’ve got to stop, some of these books are so good that I feel like I did the things the drug addict-alcoholic-sex addict-etc had just done. One more memoir and I’ll probably start craving Thunderbird.
I guess what I’m saying is, well, read any good books lately?
