Man From Maine Has Beard, Wears Cords!

March 24th, 2008 · No Comments

I’ve been really stuck on this Ray LaMontagne album over the last few days. Like, REALLY stuck. Forcing it on anyone who will listen. You are lucky that I’m not smart enough to have some obnoxious music player on this thing because I would make YOU listen to it as well. It’s called Trouble, and I would recommend that anyone with a heart that can stand a little sadness have a listen. I’ll even share!

Meanwhile, been catching up on my favorite webpanels and this one really moves me today.

for the love of homeopathic stress removal devices

March 17th, 2008 · No Comments

Thank god for rescue remedy. If I could just keep my brain and other vital organs from this state of stress I might be able to get my job done. But my job is part of the problem you see? I love that rescue remedy comes in a handy chewable form so that I don’t have to carry around a vial of suspicious looking liquid for special moments like this.

I know the coffee doesn’t help things, but it’s either caffeinate myself or fall asleep at my desk. Either way I’m probably screwed for today. Let’s see if some excellent tunes can assist in today’s process of awakening. It might just make me sing aloud at work, either way I win.

I should be at home eating cookies and making a lovely Irish meal, that would be more fun and less rash-inducing than work today.

concert fun times!

February 22nd, 2008 · 2 Comments

Last night I had the pleasure of taking a friend’s sister to see her very first concert! Yes, 14 year old Janie got to see 30 seconds of The Donnas and all of The Hives at the Roseland!!

That’s what she gets for hanging out with old people who forgot that all ages shows actually do start when they say they will sometimes.

I am saddened that she only saw half a song of The Donnas, at least she got to see a fantastic guitar solo by Donna Whatever, the guitar player one.

I think she had a good time, I even got her to got near the mosh pit, right behind me of course. Yes, I even touched disgusting sweaty teenagers to keep her from getting crushed. Eww.

success!

November 21st, 2007 · No Comments

I’m so sad, I’ve just finished with the last disc of season 1 Dexter. No cable, no more Dexter for awhile.

In other news, I just had my first newsletter feature for DIY network. Got a lot of views so that’s good I guess.

The next day I was selected to be featured on the Crafts Portal page for
TalentDatabase.com, that’s really great since I didn’t have to pay for that publicity. I’ve also seen lots of really cool work on TalentDatabase, some really intriguing people and things.

Fell on my face Sunday night at Maximo Park show, awesome! Stupid clogs. I love them so but I just can’t walk sometimes. So embarrassing for some reason, I am not normally embarrassed by my own behavior, but (insert picture of knee here) this did it I guess.

moustache power?

August 21st, 2007 · No Comments

Can it be? I think I’m weak for a well-formed moustache! Not too bushy, but well-defined and sort of interesting? This is some new scary sort of thing for me, geez. Just a bit late for spring fever dontcha think?

In other news: making a terrific jacket at home (sewing) and hoping for completion by the weekend.

Also, Gogol Bordello at the Crystal on the 31st, a week from Friday. Who’s with me? Audrey, I know you are.

I must send out yet another nod to the snappy dressers who feed and caffeinate me daily. You know who you are.

M A X I M O! M A X I M O! or jumpy pale brits, so cute!

July 25th, 2007 · No Comments

Saw Maximo Park last night, and they were really great. REAL. Of course the entire band was there but I’ve included a picture of the lovely singer Paul in one of the many crazy jumps he did, at the low-ceilinged DougFir no less. Skinny, pale dark-haired british hotness was what i was thinking, even as I was staring directly into his gigantic nostrils the entire time. HA!

Because I only got 5 hours of sleep I’m, well, sleepy. At least I’m not hungover like every other once a week.

Also, why do yuppies feel it necessary to try and debate/argue with the band while they’re trying to entertain me? Douches.

Tiny air hearts for Paul Smith.
